General Information and Rules
The Public Races give riders age 3 and up the opportunity to rides in races of friendly competition in the following categories:
- 50 yard dash – Riders ages 3 -5
- 1 lap (0.65 mile course) – Riders ages 6 – 9
- 1, 2, & 3 laps (1.2 mile course – Riders ages 10 – 17
- 5 & 6 laps (1.2 mile course – Riders ages 18 and older
For riders 3 – 5 years of age, there will be separate competitions for riders of either tricycles or bicycles. Any 3-wheel, pedal powered unit is considered to be a tricycle. Bicycles with training wheels must compete as a bicycle.
ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR APPROVED HELMETS. Clothing must cover the shoulders of all riders.
No Aero, Clip-on, or profile bars allowed.
Categories may be combined, based on number of entrants, but will be scored separately.
Multiple heats will be run for riders ages 3 – 5. Multiple heats may be run in categories with large fields. Medals will be awarded to the first three finishers in each race category, including those multiple heats of the same category. All competitors will receive an event T-shirt.
IN THE EVENT OF RAIN, the running of races will be determined on a race by race basis.
All participants MUST check-in at the registration area no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for their event. Registration on the day of the event will close 30 minutes prior to the start of their event. Please allow sufficient time because there are often crowds at registration.
Each rider MUST turn in a completed 2008 Redlands Bicycle Classic Official Release Parents or Legal Guardians MUST sign the Release for any participant under the age of 18. Race numbers and event T-shirts will be distributed at Registration which will be located on the lower level of the parking structure on Citrus Ave at 5th Street.
Registration
Early registration is recommended. The number of entries is limited in each category. (Entry limits are listed below, by category.) Online registration is preferred.

0.65 Mile Public Race Course A

1, 2 and 3 Lap Races - Ages 10-17
1.2 Mile Public Race Course B

5 and 6 Lap Races - Ages 18 and Older
1.2 Mile Public Race Course B

DIRECTIONS/START: All weekend public & USAC races start at the Pro Criterium start line on Citrus Avenue between 5th Street and 6th Street in downtown Redlands. The best parking is 2 blocks West in the public parking lot. Take Interstate 10 East or West. If traveling Eastbound, exit at the Orange Street off ramp, turn right on Eureka Street (bottom of off ramp). Proceed straight to Brookside/Citrus. Find parking area. Westbound exit at the 6th Street off ramp. Turn left on 6th Street and proceed to Redlands Blvd. Turn right on Redlands Blvd. to Eureka, left on Eureka to Brookside/Citrus. Find parking area.
