STAGE 2 – TREK ONYX SUMMIT ROAD RACE

DISTANCE
40.0 miles.
CLIMBER POINTS
There are THREE climbing competitions: two intermediate and one finish competition. The first intermediate climber competition line is on Highway 38, ½ mile east of Valley of the Falls Dr. (Forest Falls turnoff.) The second intermediate climber competition line is on Highway 38 and Mountain Home Creek Rd in Angeles Oaks. Finish at Onyx Summit.
SPRINTER POINTS
There will be ONE intermediate competition. The competition will be on Colton Ave at Sapphire Ave.
INTERMEDIATE TIME BONUSES
There will be TWO intermediate time bonuses. They will be at the SPRINT and the 2nd QOM.
FINISH LINE BONUSES
There is a time bonus for the first three finishers
COURSE/EVENT DESCRIPTION
This race is a rolling enclosure. Turn by turn course description follows general stage information. Note that the race will be NEUTRAL until Official release on Colton Ave.
Riders who fall behind and are out of the envelope are subject to normal traffic rules.
This is a hill climb finish. There will not be a “same time” for mishaps in the final 3 km.

At the finish line in the Press Tent.
AWARDS CEREMONY
There will be an Awards Ceremony at the Finish Line for the first three finishers in this stage as well as Individual G.C., Climber Leader, Sprinter Leader, and Best Amateur Leader (immediately following the conclusion of the stage).
DIRECTIONS TO START
From Downtown Redlands, proceed north on Orange Street. Turn right on San Bernardino Ave. Proceed to Dearborn St. Turn left onto Dearborn St and proceed to Redlands Sports Park. Turn right into driveway to team parking. Start line is .5 miles from end of Dearborn St, right on Sessums Dr.
TEAM PARKING
Team Parking is in the Redlands Sport Park on Dearborn St.
START LOCATION
On Sessums Dr in front of the Hangar 24 Craft Brewery. This is .5 miles east of Dearborn St.
SIGN-IN
Sign-in will be located at the entrance to the Redlands Sport Park on Dearborn St. Sign-in will open at 9:30 am and close at 10:15 am.
WARM UP
On city streets. Riders must obey all traffic laws, including mandatory helmet law, during warm-up. Citations may be given by local police.
START TIME
10:30 am
SERVICE
Support by vehicle and motor will be provided. Teams with special needs may coordinate with Neutral Support.
CARAVAN LINE-UP
The caravan will line up on Dearborn St south of Sessums Dr.
Line up will occur after 10:00 am.
TIME CUT
25% of winner’s time.
CARAVAN RULES
All drivers must hold a USAC/UCI license. The following rules shall be in effect during the Onyx Summit Road Race:
1. Teams and Riders will be subject to discipline for misconduct by a support vehicle driver or personnel on board the support vehicle.
2. All service will be done while stationery on the right-hand side of the road.
No service is to be provided on the left side of the road except for emergency vehicles.
FEED ZONE LOCATION
The Feed Zone is at Middle Control Rd on Hwy 38 just after Angeles Oaks (0.4 miles after QOM 2). The Feed Zone will be on the RIGHT side of the road. Important: All vehicles must be parked head-in on the LEFT side of the road and equipment carried across the road to the Feed Zone. There can be NO VEHICLES on the right side of road. There is no shoulder on the right and would cause excessive danger to all personnel and racers.
There will be 2 Green Zones, immediately before and approximately ½ mile after the Feed Zone. Please deposit all trash in these locations. Upon entering the mountains, the racers are traveling through a National Forest, please respect the forest. Littering outside of the Green and Feed Zones is subject to Special Fines, up to and including disqualification.
DIRECTIONS TO THE FEED ZONE
Leave Team Parking, turn left on Dearborn St. Proceed to Lugonia Ave/38. Make a left on Lugonia Ave/38 and it’s approximately 17 miles to feed zone at Middle Control Rd (.4 miles past QOM 2). Feed vehicles MUST leave before Start (and the Men’s race passing).
FINISH LOCATION
The Finish is on Highway 38 at Onyx Summit.
MEDICAL LOCATION
In the caravan and at the Start Line.
